Lynn Grodzki

Lynn Grodzki, LCSW, MCC is one of the leading business coaches in the US for small business owners. She specializes in working with change-agents: therapists, coaches, healers, and other helping professionals.

Through her workshops and writing, she has become a pioneer in the field of practice-building, helping non-business-oriented professionals develop their private practices. With Lynn’s guidance, tens of thousands of professionals now operate small businesses that offer them a high degree of integrity as well as enhanced financial success.

After receiving an undergraduate degree in Design, Lynn worked as an executive in the family business.  She left to get a Masters in Social Work in 1988 from the University of Maryland and became a psychotherapist in private practice (see her therapy services at: www.counselingsilverspring.com.)

As a psychotherapist in private practice, she was concerned to learn that although 60% of all therapists work in private practice, few have the benefit of any training or courses in practice management or business development. Lynn combined her earlier career in entrepreneurship with her love of psychotherapy and became a business coach for therapists and healing professionals. She began teaching her Private Practice Success Program (TM) locally, then nationally. In 2000, she published her best-selling book: Building Your Ideal Private Practice (WW Norton), considered to be the “bible” of practice building. Lynn formalized her coach training to help her work with professionals and is now a Master Certified Coach (through the International Coach Federation) and a faculty member for CoachU, a large coach training organization.

She is the author of five books about practice-building for therapists,  coaches, and consultants, all published by W.W. Norton, most recently revising her original book for a much-awaited Building Your Ideal Private Practice: 2nd Edition in 2015. Her articles on practice-building appear in national magazines, including 12 articles in the Psychotherapy Networker and several in Social Work Today. She presents workshops internationally and writes a monthly email newsletter that is read by over 10,000 subscribers.

Lynn has continued to break new ground with her sixth book, Therapy with a Coaching Edge; in it she offers a paradigm-changing model for today’s therapists, how to add the leverage and action of a coaching approach to the wisdom and goals of psychotherapy. Lynn has been on the faculty of a large coach-training organization since 1998, helping train new coaches. She is a popular presenter at therapy conferences internationally and speaks to associations and other organizations giving both keynotes and workshops.

Lynn still maintains a psychotherapy private practice, specializing in working with the “worried well” — adults who are successful in some areas of life and need help in others.  She combines psychotherapy with a coaching approach, to offer a proactive, direct method of therapy. See her counseling and life coaching services at www.counselingsilverspring.com.

Lynn is a long-standing member of the NASW and was the Vice-President of the NASW Metro Chapter (2011-2013.) She is also affiliated with the Greater Washington Society of Clinical Social Workers and the Clinical Socialwork Association. She is a member of the Cosmos Club, as a distinguished social worker. She lives with her husband, Tad, an architect, in Silver Spring, Maryland and can be reached by email at: lynn@privatepracticesuccess.com or by phone at: (301) 434-0766.
